COUNCIL MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 26TH AUGUST 2009.
Tuesday, August 25, 2009
Monday, August 17, 2009
Wednesday, August 12, 2009
So what's going on?
Still confused about where to do your A Levels from? After all, it is a major decision as a student to decide what school through which to apply to university from.
LACAS provides a range of activites for all students.
DRAMATICS SOCIETY:
PRESIDENT: ZARA SAMIUDDIN
LACAS has always been known for producing outstanding plays and discovering hidden talent within its students. Smaller scale plays, alongside the annual school play, provide entertainment throughout the school year.
Contrary to common belief, this society is not limited to actors but includes an entire production crew ranging from the Technical Staff to Make-up Artisits and Set Designers. Therefore the students are not only made familiar to the practical aspect of drama but also the aesthetic. LACAS not only produces an annual play but also sends it's students to participate in the Rafi Peer Festival, the Lums Olympiad as well as other Drama Fests.
For further information contact Zara Samiuddin.
ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIETY:
PRESIDENT: FARJAD IKRAM
The environmental society is full of individuals eager to help change our current ecological crisis in whatever way they can. They are dedicated to the cause and organise events such as the Environmental Moot to spread the word that "humanity shares a common fate on a crowded planet" therefore it is our duty to try and stop the environmental degradation that is affecting not only us but other species that have made earth their only home.
THE MUSIC SOCIETY:
PRESIDENT: NATASHA NOORANI
LACAS has been known to be home to some of the most talented musicians in the country. The Music Society, founded in March 2009, is working towards providing a platform to students to get together and not only make music, but to understand it as a subject. Projects such as the 'Lahore Marasi Society' and Annual concerts are directed towards attracting students to discover just how talented they are and to interact with music societies from different schools.
THE CUSTODIAN LITERACY CAMP:
PRESIDENT: ASAD BIN JAVED
The Custodian Literacy Camp is a noble initiative taken by those students of LACAS who wish to help and educate those who work in their surroundings. The classes consist of those custodians who wish to learn and those students who wish to teach. Its an extremely rewarding experience and the custodians are not the only ones who leave the classes having learnt something.
DEBATES SOCIETY:
PRESIDENT: AHMED ZAFAR
The Debates Society is among the most prominent here at LACAS. All students are encouraged to participate. It must be noted that no specific qualifications are required from students other than their dedication to the society. In return we aim to teach you and train you for Debates Tournaments in Pakistan; and those who excel even further may find a spot for themselves in the Pakistan Team. LACAS has always played an important part in the debating circle in Pakistan and is known for its excellence. Debators often find themselves gaining more than just an addition to their CVs.
ANIMAL RIGHTS SOCIETY:
PRESIDENT: ZARA SAMIUDDIN
The Animal Rights Society works side by side with the Environmental Society in order to promote awareness for the welfare and prevent cruelty to animals in Pakistan. We intend to work closely with the Lahore Zoo. Our agenda for the coming school year is to recruit as many students into this society and to hold interschool conferences and competitions. Finally we aim to send a petition to the Governer of Pakistan to support our cause.
Those interested should contact Zara Samiuddin or Mehrbano Raja.
These are only a few societies that exist in LACAS. Students have alot of choice when choosing what they want to do when they're not studying. So when deciding on where to apply make sure you keep this in mind. =)

Hello!
Just to remind everyone, school will be re-opening on the 24th of August. The A1s will arrive on the 7th of September.
We would like to wish the O'level kids good luck on their results!!! We hope that we will see all of you next month meanwhile we would like to remind you that LACAS is offering AS level which should divide your workload between the two years of A'levels.
We would like to remind the A2s that ragging is (as usual) banned this year and Mrs Zaigham has said very explicitly that any council member found ragging will risk losing their badge permanantly.
We have launched a students' website (http://www.thelacasblog.webnode.com/) where you will find information about the day to day happenings, news and general information about the going-ons at lacas.
Also, many of you have already joined our forum at http://www.thelacasblog.ning.com/, and those of you who havent are urged to try it out. Non-lacassians are also encouraged to join and share their ideas.
We will try to recruit some A1s to assist us in the management of the blog, forum and website. So please give us your names when school starts.
