LACAS Tribute to Azeem Khan - Laal in concert

CALLING ALL LACASIANS [CURRENT AND ALUMNI]

The prestigious Lahore College of Arts and Sciences [LACAS] celebrate their twenty-two year old educational heritage by honouring their first ever employee, the late Azeem Khan with an evening of LAAL in concert at the historic Al-Hamra Cultural Complex, Open Air Theatre.

LACAS Director Nazi Qureshi believes that “Music, as they say, is a universal language - an educator. LACAS has always considered cultural education to be as vital to a child’s development as academic excellence. Today, LACAS is proud to invite their current students, faculty and alumni to salute the memory and legacy of the late Azeem Khan. For twenty years no one walking through the gates of LACAS could miss him; he was always the one constant as the institution grew and evolved and Azeem Khan left an indelible mark in the lives of so many. LAAL’s music speaks of social education through music and with three band members being LACAS alumni, we thought having the band live in concert to be a befitting tribute.’

LAAL guitarist and band member Taimur Rehman says, “Three members of our band are teachers and feel very strongly about education. In fact, for us Laal is also a means to political and social education through music. The future of the country lies in education…”

ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT LACAS FACULTY, STUDENTS AND LACAS ALUMNI.

Current LACAS students do not require invitation cards: please bring your school ID to secure entry to venue on the day.

WELCOME 2009

The theme for this years Welcome is 'Hollywood/Bollywood'.

For those still struggling to find the right outfits, here are some ideas:
  • Dress up as your favourite actor/actress
  • Try dressing up as your favourite movie character, whether its Tony Montana, Darth Vader or Lara Craft - GO FOR IT!
  • A red carpet look could work out i.e. spiffy suits and gowns.
  • Be creative and be as desi as possible. Grab a dhoti or a gandasa and get your melodramatic Bollywood look on.
  • Ladies, think traditional if you're going for Bollywood. Outrageous colours, goops of eyeliner and a few parandahs here and there would work out well. =)
Just remember. Its formal. And steer clear from anything possibly inappropriate.

HINT: Make sure you have your dancing shoes on.

Those wishing to volunteer to help out, please contact Ms. Yusra or Zara Samiuddin.

AUDITIONS FOR SKITS, MUSIC PERFORMANCES, DANCES ETC TAKES PLACE ON 25TH SEPTEMBER 2009.

Happy Holidays!

Eid holidays are from Friday 18th September to Wednesday 23rd September.

Schools reopens on Thursday 24th September 2009.

THOSE STUDENTS WHO DO NOT ATTEND SCHOOL ON THURSDAY 24TH AND FRIDAY 25TH WILL BE FINED HEAVILY.

Eid Mubarik! =D

The Lacas Music Society is starting a project aimed towards bringing together the different music societies in Lahore: The main features of the project would include:
1. Attending lectures given by professional musicians and music experts. This means that these lectures would be varying in subject matter i.e. music theory, performance etc.
